FPI and 50Plus Skills Partner to Strengthen Longevity and Retirement Planning Support

The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPi) has entered into a strategic partnership with 50Plus Skills through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding, aimed at supporting FPI members in addressing the growing complexity of longevity and retirement planning.

The collaboration will focus on thought leadership, CPD‑accredited learning and targeted engagements designed to equip financial planners with deeper insights into the non‑financial dimensions of retirement, including purpose, wellbeing and life transitions.

Commenting on the partnership, Lelané Bezuidenhout, CEO of FPI, said:

“Longevity has fundamentally changed the role of the financial planner. This partnership supports our Vision 2030 commitment to professional excellence by equipping planners to guide clients through not only the financial decisions of retirement, but the human and life‑stage realities that come with living longer.”

Lynda Smith, CEO of 50Plus Skills, added:

“We are living in an era of unprecedented longevity, where life is moving faster and lasting longer. In this reality, trusted human engagement becomes vital. A longer life demands thoughtful planning — not only for the accumulation of wealth, but for the decumulation years that follow. Financial planners who understand the complexity of longevity can guide their clients with wisdom and confidence. Through this partnership, we aim to empower planners to walk alongside their clients as they shape lives filled with purpose, security, and renewed possibility.”

The partnership reinforces FPI’s ongoing advocacy for holistic, client‑centred financial planning and will roll out through structured initiatives during 2026.
