Our Mission

Our mission is to support the next generation of financial planners, focusing on historically disadvantaged candidates to ensure the profession reflects South Africa’s rich diversity and delivers high-quality, ethical financial advice to all who need it.

Our Vision

“To enable a transformed and inclusive financial planning industry through accessible, high-quality education that empowers disadvantaged individuals to achieve professional excellence.”

What is the Trust for?

The Trust exists to fund education, training and research in the field of financial planning. Donations are used to:

  • Provide bursaries and scholarships for approved tertiary qualifications in financial planning streams.
  • Support critical academic research that actively advances the practice of financial planning locally.
  • Assist beneficiaries with socio-economic needs directly related to their ability to complete their studies and enter the profession.

Who Benefits?

Our beneficiaries are talented, motivated South Africans who:

  • Have been economically or institutionally disadvantaged.
  • Are pursuing or wish to pursue formal qualifications in financial planning.
  • Are working in or aspiring to work in the financial planning sector.
  • Have the potential to make a meaningful, positive impact on the profession and equal opportunity development.

Our Commitment to Broad-Based Transformation

The Trust is strictly aligned with South Africa’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) strategy and the Financial Sector Charter. Established by the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), this deliberate initiative addresses past imbalances to build a sustainable, inclusive future.

Governance and Accountability

The Trust is managed by a board of trustees comprising senior leaders of the FPI. It is a registered legal entity operating under strict transparency frameworks to guarantee all assets are utilized strictly for designated educational goals.
