Cynthia Schoeman

Cynthia is the founder and Managing Director of Ethics Monitoring & Management Services (Pty) Ltd. She is a founding non-executive director of the Ethics Practitioners’ Association (EPA) and the current Chairperson of the EPA. She sits on the Ethics Committee of the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) and has served two terms on the Investigating Committee of the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA). Cynthia more than 20 years’ experience in the field of workplace ethics and governance. She is a published author having written two books on workplace ethics, an ethics guide and contributed two chapters for other publications. Cynthia has a BA from Unisa, an MBA from Wits Business School, an MPhil in Applied Ethics (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University and has been awarded the designation EP(SA) (Ethics Practitioner, South Africa) by the Ethics Practitioners’ Association.

Louis van der Merwe, CFP®

Louis is the co-founder and director of WealthUp, an independent financial planning firm situated in Durbanville, Cape Town. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® CERTIFIED FINANCIAL TRANSITIONIST® and FIDUCIARY PRACTITIONER OF SOUTH AFRICA® designation. Louis completed his B.Comm degree at the University of Stellenbosch as well as the Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (Stellenbosch University) (cum laude). Further to this, he finished his Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning at the University of Free State, specializing in investment management as well as an Advanced Diploma in Estate and Trust Administration at the University of Free State (cum laude) where we also received a top-student award. Louis mainly works with widowed people to help them make complex decisions about money and life through a coaching approach. He has a passion for technology and helping people. Louis is also the host of the Ensombl Advice South Africa Podcast where he shares conversations with financial planners and experts across the globe.

James Molfetas

James is the founder of Regular Clients, a South African based LinkedIn marketing firm that specialises in helping the financial sector (mostly accountants and financial advisors) consistently acquire new clients from LinkedIn every month.
James coaches individuals and teams how to get new clients from LinkedIn. He is the bestselling author of two books on LinkedIn lead and client generation. He has trained thousands of people all over the world how to leverage LinkedIn to get new clients.

He is a father of 2, loves magic and unfortunately supports Manchester united!

Mariette Tappan, CFP®

Mariette grew up in the bushveld and matriculated as Head Girl from Pretoria Commercial High School, received a BCom degree at the University of Pretoria, been nominated for Businesswoman of the year in the 80s, President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Pretoria, director of an International marketing and export business for 10 years. She joined the financial industry in 1993, achieved the highest international qualification as a Certified Financial Advisor and is the first Certified Financial Transitionists Planner in Africa. Mariette has a passion for professionalism, serving in the industry for 30 years and she enjoys paying it forward. Mariette also serves as a Non-Executive Director on the board of an ALTX listed company.  She was awarded the highest rating of 5-star VIP Executive Consultant status at Liberty Life, as the only active female consultant to do so in 30 years. Mariette believes in staying relevant and has therefore recently gone through her own transition by joining Adviceworx to provide independent advice. Bringing the human side to the technical side of financial well-being is where the future of this industry lies.  The most important legacy she wants to leave is knowing your true self and loving others the way you do yourself, as this will make a change in the smallest of things – which will become the biggest of things.
